Software updates

We're always told to say yes to updates, as they maintain the security of our computers. I dutifully accepted iTunes 9 for Mac OSX and let the install go ahead. Synchronizing with my iPod then took ages, and eventually my ipod locked up. Yesterday afternoon it yielded and started working again, and I managed to get back to some sort of normality. Sure enough, an iTunes update popped up today citing sync problems and the time taken.

Just about to try the updated version and see if it's any quicker. Never mind - I could be using Windows...

Test run

I am trying out a new facility, which I have added to Firefox. It's a blogging editor called PFF (Performancing For Firefox). You don't have to be looking at the blog to add an entry, if I understand it correctly. The text editor is also a bit more advance, and you can blog web pages. Whether it's better than simply using the one on the relevant Blogger page remains to be soon. Anyway, here goes with an online experiment. I'll just use the default options and font first time (so if this looks weird, that's why!)

Mac anniversary

An iMac G5 17" (Rev. A or B) with an Appl...Image via Wikipedia

Just realised that it's a year since I got my first Apple Mac. It's an iMac G5 if you're the kind of nerdy person who's interested. It was time to replace the PC and most people thought I had gone mad becoming a 'switcher' as they are known in Mac circles. I had had enough with unpredictable PC behaviour and fancied a change.

Haven't regretted it at all. Not only does it look much cooler than any other computer I have ever used; it also works. Even has MS Office (except Publisher, which is a minor but not devastating drawback.) Apparently you can even run Windows if you fork out £100 for Virtual PC.

All this and no viruses too.
