Keeping tabs on Lambeth

Just to re-iterate my recommendation of Bishop Alan's Blog as a source of news from Lambeth which provides an alternative to the regular media output.

He has a healthy sense of humour, but also values the good things. He is also carries feeds from other episcopal blogs down the right-hand side including Gene Robinson's, so he's prepared to stick his neck out.

Bible & Sex

John Bell was on characteristic good form this morning on BBC Radio 4, getting us to think about what the Bible really says about human sexuality.

You can read the text here

Last week he was equally stimulating about Jesus' attitude to women here

Looking forward to him being around at our Diocesan conference in September. I suspect many people have no idea what they are in for! Excellent.

Meanwhile, here's a cartoon that connects nicely with today's thought:

Bishops, Blogs & Lambeth

I'm finding it fascinating that the media is so interested in the Lambeth Conference. Of course it may be very important for the C of E, but I'm struggling to see why BBC news finds it such a priority.

If you're not yet exhausted by it, you can actually read what Bishops are saying on their blogs. A good place to start is Bishop Alan's Blog (Alan Wilson, Bishop of Buckingham), which also has a feed from several other episcopal blogs down the right-hand side of the screen.

One you will find there, although he can't attend the Lambeth conference officially is Canterbury Tales From the Fringe, Bp Gene Robinson's blog of his time over here in the UK round the edges of the lambeth conference. It includes an account of being heckled at Putney and also an evening with Sir Ian McKellen. Why not take a look and make up your own mind.
