What price to pray?
£7 in Canterbury, apparently. I was going to have a look round the Cathedral and maybe have a bit of space and quiet in a side chapel less popular with the tourists. The gate to the precincts had a queue and a sign saying £7 admission (and no option for free admission to pray mentioned). Presumably if I had my dog collar on and I marched in looking confident, I'd get in for nothing, but that hardly seems right.
I know Cathedrals have to raise huge sums to stay open, but that kind of admissions policy seems a terrible price to pay in more ways than one.
