On Being American

That wonderful example of all the absurdities of British public school education, Boris Johnson, turns out to have been born in the USA. His experiences of trying to convince US customs that he is actually British are very funny, and can be read here. It takes a certain skill to offend Liverpool, Papua New Guinea and US customs, but somehow Boris can do this. Politics would be so much more boring without him.

I loved his story. I think, a bit like me, he writes as catharsis. He's just annoyingly good at it.
